During her speech, Ms. Exarhou said: "It is very important to create in Greece, through the Initiative Sustainable Greece 2020, tools for organizations wishing to implement sustainable development policies, such as the Sustainability Code. The implementation of the Code at a national and then at a European level, aims to harmonize and codify all individual practices, and by doing so, facilitate organizations as well as encourage investors towards long-term investments in businesses that adopt sustainable development policies and participate in the Sustainability Code."
It should be noted that the annual conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) is a leading event with respect to Sustainable Development issues, becoming a major attraction to a wide range of institutional, entrepreneurial organizations and representatives of civil society as it gathers more than 1,200 social partners each year. The aim of the conference is to promote policies and sustainable development strategies at a national and at a European level. The participation of Ms. A.Merkel in the Conference proves the importance that the Federal Chancellor herself shows in the strategic promotion of sustainable development issues.
Creating methodologies that promote sustainable development is the focus of the cooperation between the QualityNet Foundation and the German Council for Sustainable Development. The close collaboration between the two organizations was highlighted by the very President of RNE Ms. Marlehn Thieme, during the inauguration speech, stating that, through this cooperation, is given the possibility to exchange expertise and best practices, as well as to create a broader platform to promote the Sustainability at the European level, through the Sustainability Code.
