Since its inception, Athens International Airport has continuously offered high quality services, having earned the trust of its airlines, passengers, partners and stakeholders. The Airport Company offers one of the most innovative and comprehensive incentive programs to airlines internationally, ensuring the sustainability and growth of domestic and international traffic, while strategically promoting "destination Athens" through a wide range of partnerships and initiatives.

AIA is, since 2016, the first Carbon Neutral airport in Greece, while, since 2019, we have undertaken with the "Route 2025" initiative the commitment to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2025, well ahead of the 2050 target announced by the International Airports Council of Europe (ACI EUROPE).

At the same time, in 2023, we upgraded our certification to Level 4+ (Transition) of the European Airport Carbon Accreditation Program, strengthening our cooperation with Third Parties and calculating carbon emissions from additional sources (Scope 1 and 3).

At the same time, we completed the construction and operation of the largest photovoltaic self-production plant in Greece with a capacity of 16MWp, within the airport area, thus covering already 45% of electricity consumption from renewable sources.

By the end of 2025, we will add an even larger photovoltaic park of 35.5MWp, maximizing self-consumption through energy storage capability, in order to fully meet our electricity needs.

Having been repeatedly awarded by the International Airports Council as the best airport in Europe for the high level of services offered and passenger service, we continue in 2024 to implement our program for aesthetic, functional and operational upgrade of the airport premises, while the extremely important project to increase the annual capacity of the airport by 27% is in progress.

Today, with more than 300 businesses and more than 16,000 employees, our airport community is one of the biggest drivers of growth and employment in Greece.
